New or Used Computers

The Lovelace Foundation will be delighted to receive new or used computers. We plan to setup an (I.C.T) Information and Communication Technology centre, aimed at giving local teachers training in computer skills, how to use the World Wide Web for research purposes, how to send and check Emails and how to use essential programmes like Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). This will improve the teacher’s planning and managing skills making them effective and efficient to deliver and achieve the school’s aims and objectives.

We also welcome donations of new or used laptops that are functional for our field operations. Please check to ensure that any computer or laptop you donate can connect to the internet. If you have any concerns about the suitability of your donation, send us an email: info@lovelacefoundation.org

A Vehicle for Our Field Operations

We will be glad to accept a donation of a vehicle that is ideal for hard bush work and hammering roads in Ghana. The Lovelace Foundation needs to establish learning centres and schools in hard to reach villages. Road conditions in Ghana have improved in recent years, as the government has made great efforts to increase the density of the road networks. Although tremendous progress has been made, only one in three rural villages have access to all weather roads.

The ideal vehicle for the terrain in Ghana would be a Toyota Hilux Double Cab Pickup, Toyota 4WD, Nissan Double Cab Pickup or Pajero. Another advantage is that spare parts for these vehicles are easy to come by in Ghana. If you have any concerns about the suitability of your donation, send us an email: info@lovelacefoundation.org

Project – Converting an Old Farm into a School in Rural Ghana

We desperately need your support to convert an old farm sitting on an acre of land in the Eastern Region of Ghana, into a school. The property consists of 6 derelict buildings and a large compound which was generously donated to the Lovelace Foundation in 2013.

Our aim now is to repair, renovate, rebuild, and furnish all existing structures on the property, converting them into classrooms so that children in the village can start benefitting from education as soon as possible. We need to raise £20,000 to cover the cost for building materials, construction work, classroom and office furniture and equipment.

The presence of a school in the village of Suminakese, will educate children in the village and suburb. Imagine a school, in the village, adequately furnished and functional, filled with children and teachers, made possible with contributions from people like you. How does that make you feel? We are counting on your support to make it a reality. Make a commitment today to support this project. Any donation, regardless of size, makes a big difference.

To make a donation now, click on the ‘Donate Now’ button at the top right hand side of the page. Be sure to write ‘School Project’ in the description if you want your donation to go towards funding this project only, and remember to include your name so we can thank you for your contribution.

Project – Education Sponsorship?s

The Lovelace Foundation has started its vision by sponsoring little Jessica through school because her mother cannot afford to pay her school fees. Everyday her mother left her at home to help with the household chores. There are many children in Ghana who are in the same circumstance as Jessica. Poverty forces many households to withdraw children from school and send them to work. But many children are working at least in part because education is unaffordable, inaccessible, or seen as irrelevant.

Support this project and help us provide disadvantaged children and youth in Ghana, the necessary assistance and support they need so they may attend school or vocational training so they can build a strong foundation of hope for their future and within the communities they live with the skills, experience and services they need to become the solution to their problems. A monthly commitment of £4 can pay for a child’s education. If you have the means, why don’t you sponsor a child’s education today?

To make a donation now, click on the ‘Donate Online’ button below. Be sure to state ‘Education Sponsorship Project’ in the description if you want your donation to go towards funding this project only, and remember to include your name so we can thank you for your contribution.

See video of little Jessica’s first day in school by visiting our ‘Video Gallery’ page. Education was made possible by the Lovelace Foundation.

Project – Replacing Blackboards with Whiteboards

Visualise chalk dust particles airborne in a classroom, inhaled by the teacher and class. Think of the amount of this substance inhaled each time a chalkboard is erased in a week. Just imagine the effect these particles have on the respiratory organs of children in a classroom or a teacher who teaches for many years.

The Lovelace Foundation has starting a project replacing the old traditional blackboard used in most, if not all Ghanaian schools, with a new health friendly whiteboard. Further stages of this project are planned dependent on funding. This fundamental improvement in classroom equipment will without doubt ensure a much healthier educational experience for both teachers and students.

This is a very affordable opportunity for you to partake in a project across the country with perspectives on Education and the Environment, Health and Sustainability.

To make a donation now, click on the ‘Donate Online’ button below. Be sure to state ‘Whiteboard Project’ in the description and every penny you donate will go towards purchasing a whiteboard. Please make sure you include your name so we can thank you for your contribution.

If you would like further information or to discuss any of our Most Urgent Needs, please send us an email to: info@lovelacefoundation.org and we will respond.
