The Lovelace Foundation Emblem
The Lovelace Foundation emblem reflects, and is reflected in the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. Each element within the emblem has unique significance. Starting from the top left to right of the emblem on your screen, to the bottom, we explain what each element means to us.
The Shield
The shield is a symbol of our commitment to protect and uphold the good reputation of the organisation. The red colour symbolises the energy, passion and the love we put into the work that we do.
The Silver V Shaped Points
The silver V shaped points stands for stability and versatility. This means we are adaptable, flexible, and resourceful when undertaking projects.
The Six Red Peaks
The six red peaks come from the Lovelace Family Crest from England heraldry. To us, the peaks stand for Collective Impact, a framework for facilitating and achieving large scale social change.
The Building
The building at the top left side of the emblem is made up of three elements, a triangular shape, an open book and a rectangular shape as a base. Together they represent our commitment to construct educational facilities or refurbish existing ones to create an environment conducive for teaching and learning.
The Triangle
The triangular element on its own, at the top of the building, symbolises steadfastness and success.
The Open Book
The open book element implies that literacy and numeracy are fundamental to all areas of learning.
The Rectangle
The rectangular element at the bottom represents a stable and strong foundation.
Building Blocks
The three square blocks at the top middle section of the emblem conveys the element of Building Blocks crucial to early childhood development. Each block displays a symbol known in Ghana as Adinkra. They are well-known throughout the country and express various themes that have rich proverbial meanings particularly to the Akan people, who are the largest ethnic group native to Ghana.
Dame-Dame
This symbol displayed at the top of the three building blocks is the Adinkra symbol of Intelligence, Creativity and Ingenuity. This symbol is known as Dame-Dame.
Nea Onnim No Sua A Ohu
This symbol displayed at the bottom left of the three building blocks is the Adinkra symbol for Knowledge and Heutagogy. This symbol is well known in Ghana as “Nea Onnim No Sua A Ohu.” The words translate to “He Who Does Not Know Attains Knowledge Through Learning.”
Hwe Mu Dua
This symbol displayed at the bottom right of the three building blocks is the Adinkra symbol known as “Hwe Mu Dua.” This translates to “Measuring Stick.” This symbol is the symbol for Perfection, Quality Assurance, and Excellence.
The Graduation Cap
The graduation cap at the top far right of the emblem signifies, every child has the ability to achieve academic success, if given access to education.
The White Shield
The White Shield at the centre of the emblem symbolises our very plain and simple approach to philanthropy. Pure faith, believe and our trust in God gives us the strength that fuels our efforts and makes accomplishments worth achieving.
The Torch
The torch is an active symbol which stands for enlightenment through education. The regenerative power of the flame symbolises the way values and wisdom is passed on from one generation to the next generation.

As a whole, the emblem is a visualisation of the Lovelace Foundation’s philosophy.
